I spent most of the evening being short of breath. There was nothing else really...
just did not feel I could get any oxygen. I decided to go to bed, figuring it
will have corrected itself by morning. When it woke me from a sound sleep the
third time, I decided it was time to go to the hospital.
We arrived at the ER around 2AM, I think. They decided to keep me and said I'd
probably have another cath. They got me to my room around 5AM
and the procedure was that afternoon. I remained on a heart monitor, IV's and
O2 all that day.
I was more consious during this cath than I was any of the previous ones. I don't
know if the Versaid has a descreasing effect each time it is used or if this team....
I was now living in a differnet area so all new docs and hospitals... just did
theirs different. They placed another stent and I was off to cardiac ICU for recovery.
Recovery was done slightly different as well. Well the sheath was still in, they
did the smae blood draws to see what my clotting time was and after I reached
a safe point the sheath was removed. No femstop was applied. Simply a wad of rolled
guaze applied with pressure tape. Much more comfortable. And I was taken back
to my room.
I still had to lay flat until like 5AM then I was allowed
up to walk. I was home by lunchtime. I have to see my new cardiologist... the
one who placed the stent in 6 weeks and continue the Plavix for another 6 months.
You are listening to Memories from the musical Cats, written by
Andrew Lloyd Webber and T.S. Eliot. I felt this song was a perfect selection
for this site because of the affiliation I feel with Grizabella. Although
for her,
it was age and not health issues that changed her, neither of us are who we
were before, on the outside, and it can affect how we feel on the inside.
