Just got back from seeing
the cardiologist. The good news is I'll never have to have open heart
surgery. The bad news is I can never have open heart surgery. To
quote him... "the anatomy of your heart is terrible." He said
I just was not a good canditate for open heart surgery as there was just nothing
to bypass to. So, his reccommendation is EECP.
EECP, or Enhanced
External Counterpulsation, is the only treatment that has a chance
of *fixing* me and it is a short-term fix. It is done to fix the symptoms only
but it only lasts 6 months to 3 years.
EECP, is a noninvasive, procedure
used to treat the *symptoms* of CAD... the pain and shortness of breath. The
treatment is done one hour a day everyday for 7 weeks... for a total of 35 therapys.
But... I will not be having it done. It costs $350 per treatment and the regiment
is for 35 treatments. Medicare covers all but $70/treatment.. or $350/week.
hahaha... Might as well try to pick dollars off the tree out back as that is
the only way we can afford it. So, I live on nitro.
You are listening to Memories from the musical Cats, written by
Andrew Lloyd Webber and T.S. Eliot. I felt this song was a perfect selection
for this site because of the affiliation I feel with Grizabella. Although
for her,
it was age and not health issues that changed her, neither of us are who we
were before, on the outside, and it can affect how we feel on the inside.
