The Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival.
May 3 - 5 2002

Shrimp, shrimp and more shrimp!
How do you like yours?
I'm sure you could find it here.

The annual shrimp festival takes place the first weekend in May... and just a month after we moved in.

We decided to head down Friday night and see what was happening.  The starting ceremony and Miss Shrimp Festival Teen were being held while we were there and we peeked our heads in when we were in the area.... which was HUGE! I think it covered about five or six blocks of Main Street... an historic area of town with quaint shops.... plus the waterfront area.

We spent about two and a half hours there and probably walked as much in miles.  Most of the crafters were just getting set for Saturday and Sunday but the food booths were open.

We went aboard a big shrimping boat... not the Bubba Gump Shrimping Boat but the same kind.  We left before the planned pirates attack and fireworks because my legs were just gone.

We didn't buy anything but I did have some shrimp about 3 large batter fried and 4 French fries.  Hmmmm they were good but I am watching my caloric intake.  I couldn't find the steamed shrimp which are SUPER low in calories... and my favorite.

So, Saturday we set off again and I was in search of shrimp.... steamed , fried , popcorn , Cajun.  SHRIMP!
We wandered throughout the booths and talked with the artists, ate shrimp [twice] and bought water... lots of water.  It was so hot with no sea breeze so we did not stay long but I am looking forward to the

See me?!?  I am the one in the white pants. We're headed home, or should I say waddling home? lol... We had a great time and it seemed everyone else did as well.
