Lunacy
at The Terrazza
Tonight we went
to Lunacy...
an outside terrace bar above The Terrazza overlooking the ocean.
The Upstairs Band was playing. Talk about personality
plus!
This band, which played classic rock and country and oldies...
well you name it. There are five members. Guessing I would
say Dad [regular guitar], Daughter [5 string bass guitar with
a long neck] and Husband [lead guitar and singer] plus a sax
player and a drummer... actually two drummers. One of
them was the emergency room doctor. It seemed to put life
in perspective.... even a doctor has wants. He was
just drooling watching the drummer and got up and beat two songs
with the band... and he's pretty good.
Anyway, let me tell you about the band. The personality
was derived between the lead singer/guitarist and sax player.
They played off of each other and the songs they played.
The lead guy did the *crazy legs* bit. lol... quite fun to watch
actually. His fingers went so fast at times, they blurred.
While his wife, I am guessing, steady played the bo, bomp, bomp,
bomp of the bass guitar. Very steady and slow and stood
with little emotion and nary even a smile.
The sax guy when not singing or playing would occasionally do
the sun glasses sway of the Blues Brothers. lol...
The drummer, the regular drummer that is, had a little flip
of his sticks between beats that was fun to watch. They were
very relaxed and we enjoyed it a lot.
They had a great sense of humor and used it to interact with
the audience. Once someone asked for someone mellow....
they delivered mellow.... mellow Jimi Hendrix's that is. And
when someone asked for a beach tune, he said they were all
beach tunes when played on the beach. We enjoyed it enough
that we have decided that it will become a habit.
They have a $10 all you can eat on Wednesday of some seafood
gumbo??? We looked at it and it was shrimp, craw dad's,
potatoes, mini corn on the cobs in this concoction. I
asked what it was but either failed to understand what the bartender
said or have forgotten. lol... But considering even if I liked
it, I would only have been able to eat one bowl, I did not necessarily
feel that part is a bargain but the rest is.
We have gone there several times now... even weekly for a while
and we have always enjoyed ourselves. Once we were even
able to watch the porpoise play while we enjoyed the music and
our drinks.
Is there a better way to live? And we aren't even on vacation!?!
So, come hear the music play!
