I have decided to take some online classes to better understand
HTML and other computer related topics. So, I signed up to take some courses
at LVS
Online. In reverse order you can follow the classes I am currently taking
and review the ones I have already taken. I have provided the synopsis on the
class and a link to my homework for each semester as well.
Spring 2002
Flash5
| PSP7 Moving
Mountains | JavaScript
Due to health issues I had to quit these classes
so they are incomplete.
I hope to finish them sometime in the future.
Flash 5... is very popular authoring software for creating interactive animation for the web - from simple animated logos to full scale Flash web sites. In this 6 week introductory course you will learn to use many of the tools and features of Flash 5. You will create interactive logos, buttons, and simple movies to brighten up your web site.
PSP7 Moving Mountains... will focus on advanced features found in Paint Shop pro 7. The main focus will be in the areas of photo manipulation and photo correction. Features covered include adjustment layers, built in photo correction filters, masks, masking techniques, channel splitting, vector editing and drawing, as well as bits and pieces that did not fit in Getting Started and Exploring Features.
JavaScript... There must be at least a gazillion JavaScripts
posted on the web for your use. But once you've found them, how do you use them?
In this six week class, we'll look at the basics of the JavaScript language,
how it interfaces with HTML, how to find the best JavaScripts, how to modify
them to fit your web pages, and how to make them (at least sorta) do what you
want them to do.

Weaver 4 Intro
HTML II... a follow-up course to HTML - I. Topics covered were: formatting, embedding graphics, lists, tables and frames, plus an introduction to CSS (style sheets) and Javascript. At the completion of this 6-week class, we were able to create a fully-functioning web site.
PSP7 - Getting Started... beginner level course. We learned how to get around in the PSP program window and use the tools available on the Tool palette. We learned information on file options and the new Color palette. We posted our assignments to our own web site for viewing by the class.
DreamWeaver 4 - Intro... basically the same as the DW3 intro but I had a trial version of 3 when I took the class and then purchased the DreamWeaver 4.
Summer 2001
HTML

Weaver 3
HTML I... covered the most common HTML tags, simple tables, and basic layout. We learned how to resize graphics to create thumbnail images, upload files to various web hosting sites and use the host site's "file managers" as well as FTP and posted our LVS assignments to the web.
DreamWeaver 3... introduced the Dreamweaver interface.
We created a multi-page, fully-functional Web site for displaying our homework.
We learned how to use Dreamweaver to apply different font styles and attributes,
create hyperlinks and e-mail links, create tables, import images, and more advanced
techniques, such as creating mouseover effects and attaching a Flash movie to
our Web site.
