The Story behind The Wedding

On December 2nd, one of my CNA's came to me and asked me if I would consider going on a double date... with her and her husband... and a friend of theirs... to see Neil Diamond!  I told her there was probably not a lot I wouldn't do to see Neil Diamond.  So, she gave him my number and later that night, he called.

We talked for several hours and were surprised to learn the similarities we shared.  We both called Maryland home... we both came to Florida to be close to our parents late in our lives... and we both liked the water.  And surprisingly, we lived just a few miles from each other when we both lived in Maryland.

We decided that maybe we would meet before our date on Friday... you know, decrease any jitters from just meeting, so we could thoroughly enjoy Neil Diamond.   So, we decided to meet for a drink after work the next day, December 3rd.

We met and although I would not say it was love at first site, it was definitely love within a few days.

When my friend, Marsha, learned that Mike and I were dating, she smiled.  She had been trying to fix me up with this guy for a long time and as it turned out, it was Mike.

We went to the Neil Diamond's Concert in the Round and thoroughly enjoyed it!  We actually were not ready to go home when it was over but since we had come in Bob and Susan's car, we were at their mercies. So, the night may have ended early but our relationship didn't.

From the day we met until the day we married, twenty-eight days later, there was only one day we were not together.
So, early on, we had made plans to go to The Silverlake Club with my parents for their New Year's Eve dance.  By Christmas, I had my dress and Mike had his tux on order. We had no idea that we'd soon be wearing those very clothes for something bigger in our life.

Since we both lived with our parents, we had little room for privacy so the day after Christmas, Mike asked me to marry him.  He said we could get get married that very day or plan an extravagant wedding or whatever in-between.  After much thought and talk, we decided that New Year's eve would be great!  And this website is about that day!

I invite you to come in and look through our wedding album.  All photos have been reduced but you can view the full-size image by clicking each thumbnail.  A new page with the full-size image will open.  You can return to your previous place by clicking the full-size image.
